With the Parnon mount and the Mirtoon Sea forming impressive beaches, Paralio Astros is a flourishing holiday destination offering visitors plenty of choices: mountains, sightseeing, activities, relaxing holidays and trips to the mountainous villages of South Kynouria.

Paralio Astros provides plenty of accomodation and all the amenities of a well- organised destination. Extending from ''the island'' the traditional settlement to the beach ''Portes''.From the central square the visitor can walk through the island and climb the castle – the fortress built in the 13th  century. Walking visitors can travel to last centuries admiring white washed gardens full of roses. On the way to the castle, there is the church Agios Vasileios and Evaggelistria, celebrating on the 15th of August.

Walking downstairs, since you have enjoyed the view until Nafplio you can meet the picturesque church of Saint Ilias and the theatre Melina Merkouri, which hosts performances and celebrations. From the square, walking through the main road Zafeiropoulou, you will find lovely cafes, restaurants and shops along the beach.

Where to swim

Plenty of blue flag beaches.

Atsigganos

One of the busiest beaches, extending to 4km. Famous for its shallow warm water the beach offers organised facilities with umbrellas and sunbeds.

Portes

The South beach of Paralio Astros, took its name from the location Portes of Meligou.

It is actually an old mouth of the lake Moustou, which today remains inactive. The beach provides thick sand-pebbles and deep crystal clear water, whereas because of the winds the beach is suitable for water sports.

Kallisto:

It is a beach of Paralio Astros that starts from the port and ends up 5km. Southern to Xerronisi near the beach of Agios Andrea. The beach is organised and suitable for people of all ages with tavernas, restaurants and cafes to suit every taste.

Xerronis Beach:

A quiet small and beautifull beach 5km. from Paralio Astros. It took its name from the lake of Herronision (the second one after the lake of Moustou, formed from the waters that flow from the springs.

Sight seeing:

From Paralio Astros you can visit nearby destinations of arhaeological and historical interest. You can also visit the Archaeological Museum of Astros.

A bit further on the way to Tripolis there is the Villa of Herod of Attica, opposite the Loukou Monastery, one of the most impessive ones in Arcadia, with a great history. Also, to the opposite direction on the way to the villages of Parnon, you can visit Elliniko or Tihio, where you can see the ruins of walls, buildings and underground cisterns. Nothern of Elliniko at 500m there is a stone made shed of Barlas built over the ruins of an ancient temple, probably of the Apollon.

Close to Paralio Astros, if you miss the mountain, you can visit the traditional villages of South Kynouria, Agios Ioannis, Meligou, Platanos, Sitaina,Kastanitsa...
